Musk 'glass house' expenses probe stepped up a notch, say reports
Proactive Investors – A probe into Elon Musk’s private expenses at Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) has been widened to more than just company funds that might have been used to build a ‘glass house’ in Austin, Texas, for its chief executive.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the US Department of Justice is investigating what company funds were used for a house, which is said to be near the site of the Tesla gigafactory.
Financial watchdog the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is also looking into how the mansion was funded, while, according to the WSJ, the US Attorney General’s office has separately requested information about any dealings between Tesla and entities related to Musk.
Whether all perks were disclosed is said to be the line of questioning, though previously Tesla has said it did not give anything extra to its executives.
Musk has stated that no glass house has been built or is under construction or even planned.
Investigations started after reports within the company of concern about millions of dollars worth of glass panels ordered by the electric vehicle maker.
