Motorcyclist, 24, dies in crash on Indio street – The Press-Enterprise


INDIO — Police are investigating a traffic collision involving a 24-year-old motorcyclist who died when he collided with a vehicle in Indio.

Officers responded at 12:24 p.m. Sunday to a report of the collision at the intersection of Monroe Street and San Jacinto Avenue, Indio Police Department spokesman Ben Guitron told City News Service.

It’s believed the motorcyclist was riding on Monroe Street, approaching San Jacinto Avenue, when he collided with the vehicle, Guitron said. When officers arrived, they found a man lying unresponsive on the roadway.

The man was identified Sunday as Daniel Hernandez of Thermal, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at 12:35 p.m. Sunday.

Traffic unit investigators were working with the coroner’s office in the investigation, Guitron said.
