If you’re Gmail inbox is a muddle of endless spam emails then help could be at hand. Google has started rolling out a major change that makes it far easier to clear things out and stop more unwanted messages appear in your inbox. As Express.co.uk recently reported, the first update now lets you select all of the emails in the window and delete or move them with just one tap.
That’s a handy way to de-clutter but now there’s the added function of instantly unsubscribing you to emails.
Signing up for messages is something we’ve all done, often by mistake when filling in online forms, and it’s not always easy to work out how to take your name off the mailing list.
Companies often hide the unsubscribe option at the bottom of emails using much smaller text which doesn’t make finding it all that obvious.
Luckily, Gmail on Android will now do all the hard work for you.
As spotted by the team at Android Police, a new unsubscribe button within the app does exactly what it says on the tin.
You simply open the email message and you’ll then see the option to “Unsubscribe” at the top of the screen.
You then just tap this button and Gmail with either automatically stop any more messages coming through or push you directly to the sender’s webpage where you can tell them you no longer want to receive correspondence from them.
It’s thought that Pixel phones are seeing the changes first with more Android devices expected to folllow. If you’re not seeing the Unsubscribe option or there’s no Select all button it might be worth checking you have the very latest version of the Gmail app installed on your phone.
It’s also worth noting that this option doesn’t appear to be on iPhone just yet.
