'Military' sleep hack lets you nod off in two minutes – and it's 'mind-blowing'

For those who toss and turn at night, how to get to sleep is a truly prescient question. Getting the right amount of sleep is crucial, and struggling to sleep can actually signal something wrong with your health.

YouTuber Justin Agustin has shared a ‘military-grade’ sleep trick that he claims can help you fall asleep in just two minutes. He explained to his 1.9 million TikTok followers: “There’s actually a military-proven technique to fall asleep in two minutes after closing your eyes. It’s mind-blowing.”

Justin said this method was developed for fighter pilots who need to be fully alert and focused, which is harder with a lack of sleep. Demonstrating the technique, he said: “First you need to calm your body and systematically relax and shut down each part of your body from head to toe, literally. Start by relaxing the muscles in your forehead. Relax your eyes, your cheeks, and your jaw, and focus on your breathing. Now go down to your neck and shoulders. Make sure your shoulders are not tensed up. Drop them as low as you can.”

Justin recommends that you keep your arms, hands, and fingers relaxed by your sides. He says: “Imagine this warm sensation going from your head and all the way down to your fingertips. Now take a deep breath and slowly exhale, relaxing your chest, your stomach, down to your thighs, knees, legs and feet. Again, imagine the warm sensation going all the way down to your toes.”
