Microsoft Teams to introduce video filters. See details

Microsoft is ready to throw some new updates as the new year has begun. Of all the other happenings, its latest update is to add video filters to its team collaboration platform, Microsoft Teams.

It’s not odd that Microsoft will be bringing these changes as the tech giant based in Redmond has been constantly bringing updates, ever since the world shifted to work from home setup or hybrid, lately.

These attempts are said to be delivered to enhance the experience of the user and Microsoft’s effort to make the hybrid working, another norm. Microsoft has also partnered with Meta to bring Teams and Windows to Meta’s Quest devices.

Updates on privacy and security

Microsoft added Smart App control to the Windows 11 operating system. By preventing Windows 11 from running script files, harmful macros, or untrusted or unregistered applications, the new Smart App control tool enables users to install new apps and services without concern.

Microsoft says that video filters will allow participants in Teams meetings to alter their video stream with visual effects. “Video filters allow participants in Teams meetings to augment their video stream with visual effects,” says Microsoft 365 roadmap. The visual effects have been provided by the app developers, it added.

Such video filters in a video conferencing platform became immensely popular on Teams’ alternative, Zoom. People on its competitor platform were seen replacing themselves with different filters. Although this may sound like a funny thing to have, the ability to change background could also be useful in certain circumstances. Moreover, Zoom has had this feature for over a long time now.

However, Microsoft Teams definitely has an edge over others in several aspects. One of the most spoken features of Microsoft Teams is its seamless integration with the rest of Microsoft 365 apps.
