Microsoft Makes Office 365 Secret Cloud Available for U.S. National … – TechDecisions

Microsoft is releasing the general availability of Office 365 Government Secret cloud and Office 365 capabilities for Exchange, Outlook and Microsoft 365 apps designed to bring secure and compliant productivity tools to help secure classified data.

The Redmond, Wash.-based IT giant says the offering is designed specifically for the U.S. Federal Civilian, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and other government partners working within the Secret domain.

In addition to Office 365 Secret, the company is offering an Impact Level 6 enrollment in the comprehensive set of Microsoft 365 Government environments to help meet government mission and data needs, says Paul Lorimer, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Office 365 Enterprise and cloud engineering, in a blog.

Lorimer calls the release “a substantial commitment to bring the most advanced, secure, and compliant productivity and collaboration tools to help secure classified data.”

“Coupled with the availability of Azure Government Secret and Top Secret, national security mission leaders can use the full cloud experience to not only establish an infrastructure platform to collect, process, and operationalize data, but to enable cloud-based collaboration and communication in the classified environment,” Lorimer says.

According to Microsoft, this new environment will run the latest enterprise-grade Office 356 productivity, security, compliance and collaboration applications. In addition, the company says it works closely with government partners to develop a secure and trusted infrastructure to help migrate workloads to the cloud.

To get started, approved customers should reach out to mission support partners and Microsoft’s onboarding teams, Lorimer says.
