Miami Hurricanes News: Bats lose in ACC Tourney, host NCAA, FB … – Canes Warning


The Miami Hurricanes baseball team lost to Clemson in the ACC Championship game on Sunday afternoon but found out later that they will be hosting a regional in the NCAA Tournament. The Miami football team added Georgia State transfer offensive lineman Luis Cristobal per multiple reports on Sunday.

Miami rallied from a 3-0 deficit after two innings in the ACC Championship game versus Clemson to take a 5-3 lead. Clemson scored eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for an 11-5 victory to win the tournament title. Three Miami Hurricanes baseball players were named to the All-ACC Tournament team.

On Sunday night the NCAA announced the 16 programs that will host regionals in the tournament that begins on Friday. Miami will find out the three teams that will be traveling to Coral Gables. The Hurricanes are hosting a regional for the second year in a row. Miami was 1-2 in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Luis Cristobal adds depth for Miami on the interior of the OL. Cristobal is the son of the former Miami OL with the same name and nephew of current Hurricanes’ head coach Mario Cristobal. Cristobal spent the last four years at Georgia State and started five games for the Panthers in 2022.

The Miami football team is trending for three-star edge rusher Wyatt Gilmore in his top five per On3. Miami has a 35.6 percent chance for a commitment from Gilmore per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Miami has not received a commitment from an edge rusher in the 2024 recruiting class.

David Lake of Inside the U examined that “Miami rises in the updated preseason ESPN SP+ ranking.” The SP+ ratings were created by Bill Connolly of ESPN who examines the returning production for each team. Miami rose in the SP+ following the addition of multiple transfers in the last few weeks.
