JULIE HYMAN: Even more tech earnings. Meta and IBM are set to report their numbers. Meta, the third of tech’s so-called Magnificent Seven, reporting results this week, and the stock is the second best performer on the S&P 500 so far this year. Analysts will be looking to see if the company is reaping the rewards of Meta’s investment into AI chat bot, Llama 2.
Ahead of the open, we’re going to get earnings from Boeing. The stock has taken a head after it halted 737 MAX deliveries after the discovery of a problem with compliance of its parts. Other earnings on deck include but are not limited to T-Mobile, Hilton, and Mattel, the owner of Barbie. We expect to see sales go up after this summer’s blockbuster movie.
Guess what? It’s not just earnings. We’ve got economic data, too. We’re going to get the latest in new home sales for September. The numbers are expected to be slightly up compared with August figure, coming in at 684,000 month over month. In other words, it’s going to be really busy tomorrow.
