Merit Circle DAO teams up with Immutable to expand its blockchain reach

The Merit Circle DAO, a gaming-focused decentralized autonomous organization for running a blockchain network, has teamed up with Immutable on its Web3 platform.

The Merit Circle DAO is recognized as the world’s largest DAO, and it is making a move to expand and elevate the DAO’s ecosystem. This collaboration aims to enrich the Beam open-source blockchain network and Sphere native digital asset marketplace by leveraging Immutable‘s Web 3 platform.

“This strategic alliance with Merit Circle DAO and commitment from Beam aligns perfectly with our mission to bring digital ownership to every gamer in the world,” said James Ferguson, CEO of Immutable, in a statement. “Immutable’s robust ecosystem and cutting-edge technology combined with Merit Circle’s web3 gaming expertise allows us to enrich the gaming experience for millions of players worldwide.”

Beam network, tailored for gaming studios’ needs, simplifies game development complexities and amplifies the user experience, prioritizing player engagement.

Previously exclusive to Avalanche, Beam is set to launch on Immutable zkEVM, a revolutionary scaling solution powered by Polygon. This integration will introduce Immutable’s advanced Web3 solutions like Immutable Orderbook and Immutable Passport to augment studios’ revenue by sharing in-game digital asset orders across leading marketplaces. Additionally, it will offer tools for developers, facilitating player onboarding through passwordless sign-ons and automated wallet creation.

“At the Merit Circle DAO, we want Beam – our gaming ecosystem – to be wherever games, players and developers are. This collaboration with Immutable and Polygon Labs represents a huge leap towards that vision,” said Marco van den Heuvel, chief growth officer at Merit Circle, in a statement. “That’s because we know, along with our new partners, that blockchain technology will soon define gaming – and that the gaming community needs a marketplace that reflects that. Our user-friendly applications, combined with Immutable’s zkEVM, powered by Polygon, are going to be a key piece of the gaming jigsaw in the very near future. We simply can’t wait to explore what’s next.”

Immutable and Merit Circle DAO anticipate unlocking fresh, innovative gaming experiences with confidence in their partnership’s potential. The collaboration, starting with the Sphere gaming marketplace, aims to explore synergies and collectively contribute to the gaming industry’s evolution.

Notably, Merit Circle DAO holds one of the largest non-native treasuries in web3 gaming, amounting to over $100 million in assets. Leveraging its vast network of portfolio games and deep industry expertise, Merit Circle DAO is poised to invest in games or studios building on Immutable, thereby amplifying the collaboration’s impact.

In an email to GamesBeat, Immutable said, “Beam allows gamers and game developers to integrate blockchain into their games easily using our SDK. Gamers can enjoy their favorite games empowered by blockchain technology without having to deal with complex wallet structures whatsoever. Game developers can enrich their games simply.

Asked why a new blockchain is needed, the DAO said, “There are hundreds of chains out there. Mainly built for everything, not just dedicated to gaming. Beam’s blockchain is dedicated to gaming. However, Beam should be seen as the layer on top — The Beam ecosystem is aiming to become the go-to place for any game developer that wishes to integrate blockchain technology, and any gamer that wishes to embrace the possibilities of web3. Acknowledging the expertise of other parties in the underlying technology, this community and ecosystem is able to deliver high quality user-facing products that leverage the best tech out there.”
