M&Co will return to the High St with 50 new stores set to open

Fashion retailer M&Co is returning to the High Street after closing all 170 stores – with 50 new shops set to open over the next two years

A major fashion retailer is making a surprise return to the high street after all its stores closed down.

Scottish clothing chain  M&Co, which was bought by Yours Clothing, will open 50 shops across Britain over the next two years.

It comes after M&Co fell into administration last year and closed down all 170 of its shops.

This news also swiftly follows the announcement that M&Co would be relaunching online later this month.

The exact locations of the 50 new shops cannot yet be revealed, with negotiations ongoing.

Any exact date is also yet to be confirmed, but the first new locations are expected to open this autumn.

The 170 M&Co shop closures earlier this year were estimated to have cost 1,900 people their jobs.

Alongside this news, and the announcement that the brand would be relaunched online on June 21, there are also plans for an M&Co app, but no details have been released.
