Martin Lewis urges Aldi and Sainsbury's shoppers to get 15p Christmas dinner items

Martin Lewis has urged thrifty festive shoppers to go to Aldi and Sainsbury’s just before Christmas to pick up bargain basement Christmas dinner items from just 15p.

The Money Saving Expert told shoppers that he has now had ‘confirmation’ that two supermarkets will be running low cost veg deals from as little as 15p from December 18 and 19, including Christmas dinner staples like carrots, brussel sprouts, parsnips, swede and cabbage.

Martin had predicted in his ‘festive forecaster’ several weeks ago that the deal would be put in place and now the first two supermarkets, Aldi and Sainsbury’s, have confirmed the dates they will be running the unbeatable offer.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Martin Lewis Money Show Live on ITV1 and ITVX, Martin Lewis announced: “15p Christmas veg starts next week, we have confirmation.

Sainsbury’s is 18th of December, Aldi 19th of December.

“Cheap veg coming, I suspect more stores will do it.”

Last year, Asda also matched the 15p veg offers seen in other stores on December 18, so it’s likely that Asda and probably Tesco will also do the same deals, but they have not yet announced or confirmed it.

On Martin’s Money Saving Expert website, Martin’s festive forecaster deals prediction table gave further detail about the bargain bin carrots, parsnips and broccoli.

It added: “Sainsbury’s is kicking off the cheap veg price war this year – from Wed 18 Dec, you can get white potatoes, carrots, parsnips, swede, cabbage and sprouts from 15p with a Nectar card both online and in store.

“Aldi has confirmed it’s following a day later on Thu 19 Dec, where white potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbages, sprouts and broccoli will be 15p in stores only.”

The deals tend to last only until Christmas eve, so shoppers will have only a few days to go and load up on cheap Christmas veg in time for the big day.
