Man drowns in lake at Rancho Jurupa Park – The Press-Enterprise


A man drowned in a lake at Rancho Jurupa Park on Friday, June 30 after swimming out to try to retrieve a fishing rod in the water, Riverside County sheriff’s officials said.

Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies were dispatched to the regional park and learned that a man had entered the lake and swam about 30 yards to retrieve the fishing rod. Witnesses said the man went under the water,and did not resurface, according to a RSO news release.

The man later was pulled ashore with the assistance of a boat. Despite life-saving measures, he succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
