'Makes a difference': Mum gets an extra £425 a year thanks to little-known scheme


The card can also be used to collect:

  • Healthy Start vitamins – these support people during pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Vitamin drops for babies and young children – these are suitable from birth to four years old.

There is a criteria that needs to be filled before people can apply such as being on certain benefits.

If someone gets Universal Credit, they can apply online if:

  • They’re at least 10 weeks pregnant or have at least one child under four years old
  • Their family’s monthly ‘take-home pay for this period’ is £408 or less from employment

To apply, people will need their name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number, baby’s due date (if they’re pregnant) and benefit award letter if they’re over 18.
