SAINSBURY’S has confirmed it’s discontinuing an item that customers say had been missing from shelves for weeks.
The major discount supermarket has been accused of “ruining lunchtime” after taking away the popular meal deal main.
The harsh reality that the brie, bacon and chili chutney sandwiches were gone for good came after one lunch-lover reached out.
He quizzed Sainsbury’s on where his favourite sandwich had been as he hadn’t seen it for more than two weeks.
The meal deal fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Please don’t tell me your bacon and brie sarnies have been discontinued.
“Haven’t seen them in store for over two weeks now, lunch time ruined.”
Sainsbury’s typed back and quizzed: “Thank you for getting in touch.
“Is it the brie, bacon and chilli chutney sandwiches you are looking for?”
They then asked: “What is your local store? I’ll have a look into this.”
The Sainsbury’s lover then wrote their local stores were Swansea and Gorseinon.
And that was when heartbreak hit.
The food giant wrote: “Unfortunately, these have been discontinued.
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Take care.”
It’s been a rough few days for food fans.
Crisp lovers were left heartbroken and confused after Walkers confirmed the discontinuation of the “greatest flavour ever”.
Fans of the savoury snack have now taken to social media to beg the brand to bring back their favourite flavour.
The Sun earlier revealed that Sizzling Steak Wotsits have shockingly been discontinued – and crisp lovers have been left wondering why.
Taking to X, several users have reached out to Walkers to share their disappointment and disbelief.
One internet tagged the brand and said: “Bring back sizzling steak wotsits I beg please I miss them,” alongside two crying emojis.
Another wrote: “Please tell me you haven’t dropped the sizzling steak wotsits? I’ve an autistic boy that absolutely loves these”.
One day earlier Peter Andre said he’d been left devastated after the sudden discontinuation of his favourite chocolate bar.
Earlier this month Nestle confirmed it had made the “difficult decision” to discontinue the Caramac bar due to low sales – and the pop star is not happy.
Discussing the loss, Pete wrote in his OK! Magazine column: “It was an absolute shocker to hear Caramac bars have been discontinued. What a disaster!
“I’ve heard other people have been going crazy about it too. I just keep thinking: ‘Imagine they got rid of Tim Tams for us Australians?’
“It may just be the end of the world.”
