Lightspeed invested $6 million in OfficeBanao

Multi-stage venture capital firm Lightspeed has invested $6 million in seed funding in OfficeBanao, a platform for workspace interiors.

The startup serves as a marketplace for designers, architects, contractors, office furniture, and material suppliers, assisting with commercial interiors ranging from small office projects to large office setups.

“We have observed that the experience of designing and developing an office, especially for a small to mid-sized business, is far from ideal. The sector is unorganised, and we believe a tech-led approach can help deliver a good experience to workspace owners,” said Tushar Mittal, Founder and CEO of OfficeBanao.

OfficeBanao is currently operating in over 15 cities in India and is focused on providing aesthetic workspaces to small business owners and start-ups.

The company plans to expand its presence in the top 25 markets in the coming months.

“With its depth of experience and supplier network, the OfficeBanao team is well placed to disrupt the existing opaque experience that plagues the industry today. It is encouraging to see the early progress and the sustainable business model, and we look forward to their continued expansion,” said Rahul Taneja, Partner at Lightspeed, on the recent investment.

OfficeBanao utilizes a user-friendly and transparent technology-led process to transform the interior design lifecycle of a workspace.Since its founding in January 2022, the tech-led platform has executed end-to-end office interior projects in over 15 cities in India, including Tier 2 cities.

Lightspeed and its affiliates manage over $18 billion across the global Lightspeed platform, with investment professionals and advisors in India, Silicon Valley, Israel, China, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
