The Port to trial use of the HEXWAVE walkthrough security detection portal to seamlessly screen for potential threats and improve employee screening process

WILMINGTON, Mass. and OAKLAND, Calif., April 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ – Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. (“Liberty” or the “Company“) (TSXV: SCAN) (OTCQB: LDDFF) (FRANKFURT: LD2A), a leading technology provider of AI-based next generation detection solutions for concealed weapons and threats, is pleased to announce that the Port of Oakland will undertake a customer evaluation of the HEXWAVE™ system for possible use in employee screening at its Oakland International Airport facilities.

The Port of Oakland, located in the San Francisco Bay area, oversees the Oakland International Airport, the Oakland Seaport, and nearly 20 miles of waterfront commercial holdings. Together with its business partners, the Port supports more than 84,000 jobs in the region with more than a $130 billion economic impact.

“We are always looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to operating the airport securely and efficiently. We were impressed by the HEXWAVE’s detection of threats beyond just metallic ones and its potential to enhance our current employee security screening,” said Douglas Mansel, Aviation Security Manager at the Port of Oakland. “We look forward to working with Liberty Defense and the potential security innovation the HEXWAVE would bring to the airport.”

HEXWAVE uses millimeter wave, advanced 3D imaging, and AI to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic weapons such as liquid, plastic, and powder explosives, 3D printed guns, and other prohibited items – without having to divest common items like cell phones or keys. The system allows for rapid, automated screening using a high throughput, contactless, walkthrough portal.
