Meghan Good, vice president and director of the Cyber Accelerator at Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), said government agencies looking to implement zero trust architectures should look for system integrators that leverage the capabilities offered by other technology companies through partnerships and could provide a comprehensive and a granular view of security ecosystems.
“Zero trust focuses on the connection between users and the data, applications, networks and systems they want to access,” Good wrote in an article posted on Carahsoft’s website.
“In zero trust architectures, new administrative tools continually evaluate whether allowing an individual user to have a certain level of access privileges is the right thing to do. The approach gives agencies much more flexibility as they modernize because they can make decisions at a granular level that enable them to secure data and entire IT ecosystems,” she noted.
Before implementing zero trust, agencies should evaluate their capabilities, products and policies they have already fielded as well as understand their security level and individual risk appetites with respect to their critical functions and specific missions, Good noted.
Good discussed how Leidos could help agencies tailor zero trust architectures to their specific needs and missions with the aid of the capabilities offered by the members of its Alliance Partner Network.
She cited how the capabilities offered by Leidos’ partner, Zscaler, could provide agencies granular level of control when it comes to zero trust implementation.
