King Charles III coronation: 5 things to know about the historic ceremony


Ahead of the coronation of King Charles III, the machinery of crown and state are busy preparing for the event. On 6 May 2023, King Charles III, who officially became king when his mother Queen Elizabeth II died, will be officially crowned. The ceremony will be fully viewable, broadcast across the world, with the exception of one holy event: the anointing of King Charles III. This will be done behind a special screen, which has been blessed by the Church of England, and viewed in advance by Charles himself.
