Key takeaway from a food delivery app

Like the way retailers these days prefer customers to pay in instalments rather than in one lump-sum cash amount, is food going a similar way? Seems like food delivery is being preferred by food retailers, at least of the non-fine dining variety as of now. Earlier this week, a gentleman in Bengaluru had the case of midnight munchies. So, as logic dictates at such an hour, he took his car out and drove to the nearest McDonald’s outlet. But upon reaching there, he was told by the McChaps that orders could not be taken as the restaurant was finger-lickin’ shut.

Hungry and disappointed the man may have been, but his brain still ticked (it’s Bengaluru!). Upon finding food app delivery agents hanging around at the McDonald’s pick-up window, he decided to give it a shot by ordering on a food delivery apps. The pick-up location? The restaurant itself. And before one could say, ‘Is there a Subway nearby?’ his order was delivered – 10 seconds flat. The delivery agent walked across to hand over the meal and had the best line for the Twitter video the hungry man posted, ‘This is my first very near delivery. So far.’ Perhaps going out for a meal will now increasingly involve going to a restaurant and then ordering our khana online and picking it up from there. Actual fine dining could mean the waiter replaced by a delivery agent.
