Josh Jacobs and Las Vegas Raiders agree on NFL contract. Details here

Josh Jacobs has officially marked his return, according to his tweet. The National Football League‘s (NFL) leading rusher has successfully reached an agreement on a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, effectively putting an end to his holdout.

Reports from NFL Network Insiders revealed that the Las Vegas Raiders and running back Josh Jacobs have reached a consensus on a fresh one-year contract, carrying a potential value of up to $12 million. This arrangement supersedes the previously established $10.091 million franchise tag and paves the way for Jacobs to rejoin the Raiders after maintaining a distance from the team during the offseason and training camp.

Under the terms of the new contract, Jacobs has the opportunity to earn an additional $200,000 through performance-based incentives, as per reports from NFL Network Insiders.

In the year 2022, Jacobs emerged as the NFL’s premier rusher, a significant achievement as it happened to be a contract year for the former 2019 first-round selection from the University of Alabama. His contributions also played a crucial role in sustaining the Raiders during a season marked by their struggles to close out games. Amidst their challenges, Jacobs stood out, offering a bright spot in a year where wide receiver Davante Adams delivered standout performances.

As of now, Jacobs holds a pivotal role as one of the Raiders’ top assets. However, the franchise opted against securing his services with a long-term arrangement before the franchise-tag deadline in July. This decision aligns with the broader league trend of avoiding extended commitments to running backs, regardless of their caliber. Recognizing the peak of his earning potential, Jacobs chose to abstain from offseason activities and remained on the sidelines throughout training camp. His patience paid off as his representation successfully negotiated an agreement, even if it doesn’t encompass the security of a multi-year deal.
