Job vacancies have risen for the first time this year as confidence grows among employers.

The uptick was driven by graduate roles, as well as legal and manufacturing positions.

James Neave, head of data science at Adzuna, said: ‘Optimism about the UK economy following higher than expected growth figures and a new government has extended into the jobs market.’

The average salary for the posts was £38,863, which was flat compared to June but is 3 per cent higher than last July.

Despite the rise in vacancies for job seekers, the figure is still down around 18 per cent compared to the same period last year.
