MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Baseball’s James Sells has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week for his stellar performances against LA Tech on April 29-30.
The RHP recorded the final out of the Blue Raiders’ 12-8 win over the Bulldogs on April 29. One day later, the Winchester, Tenn. native went 6.0 innings out of the bullpen, allowing no runs and just six total baserunners while striking out six batters.
Sells’ ERA currently stands at 4.75. He is the team’s second-leading pitcher in terms of innings pitched, with 47.1. Leading the squad with six saves, he is fifth in Conference USA in that category.
He previously earned C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors this year, after earning three saves in as many games at rival WKU in a series sweep April 6-8.
The Blue Raiders are back in action this weekend at No. 19 Dallas Baptist, who currently lead C-USA. First pitch Friday is set for 6:30 p.m.
