There are three chances to appear in the new series of Vera, after a casting call appeared on Facebook for roles in the new series of the smash hit itv drama.
Since it launched back in 2011, Vera has been one of the broadcaster’s most successful dramas, pulling in millions of viewers for each new series, with 12 runs of Vera now in the bag. And a 13th is definitely happening, having been confirmed by ITV and residents in Hexham receiving notice that the cast and crew would be soon descending on the Northumberland for filming.
A number of changes to personnel for Vera’s next run have already been announced, with Kenny Doughty quitting his role as DS Aiden Healy after eight years and Ibinabo Jack following him out the door to focus on theatre commitments.

There was some very exciting news for Vera fans, when it was then revealed that David Leon will be coming back as Joe Ashworth, having been DCI Stanhope’s original sidekick from series one to four.
And now there are three chances for locals to get in on the action too, after North East based talent agency NE14.tv posted two adverts for roles on its Facebook page this week.
Vera producers are after three women to fill the parts, two which are more walk in roles and one that will require more dialogue, as filming takes place between May 15 and June 14.
The larger role is one of a barmaid, with th casting call asking for women in their 40s to play someone ‘a bit rough around the edges and not to be messed with’. Anyone interested should email an audition tape of them pretending to describe a customer to a police officer to dee@ne14.tv.
The first walk on role is to play a receptionist, although acting experience is essential. Those interested are asked to send a tape of themselves saying ‘Yes, I saw them getting into that lift over there at about 3pm. I remember thinking they looked quite scared and I was a bit concerned’
The adverts adds that candidates should also “state name, age and and date of birth, and that you are represented by NE14 (N-E-1-4 NOT 14), and where you live.”
The other walk on role is for a woman in her 20s-30s to play a jogger, with the same application criteria to follow as the receptionist role, other than the lift line.
Applications for both should also be sent to dee@ne14.tv.
If you’re not feeling brave enough to act in front of camera, there is also an opportunity to appear on Vera in photo form. This is to play the deceased mother of a victim, and you will only be shown in photographs.
The casting call for that adds: ‘We would particularly like to see applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds in this role. Please include recent photos (headshot and full length) in your application, as well as contact details and location.’
