'Instant income potential': Graduate explains side-hustle making £200 an hour

Eliot Davey has made around £3,000 by buying old phones then selling them on using a free reselling app.

The 25-year-old has been flipping phones for around six months now, and selling them on with no fees to pay meaning he can keep all of his profit.

He has been using the free reselling app Twig which allows people to upload items they want to sell, then they get a valuation based on the condition of the product.

Once the item has been received and reviewed by their team, Britons will receive the money in their bank account.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues, many people will be looking for side hustles which can make them a bit of extra cash to put towards bills.

The university graduate explained he makes £200 an hour by flipping different mobile phones.

Flipping is when someone buys a product with the purpose of reselling it for a profit.

Eliot told The Sun: “It happened just by chance. I’ve got lots of knowledge about various pieces of tech which I review through my page Tech Drop, so I already have some insight about what to look for.

“When I discovered Twig online, I knew I could make this work to my advantage, simply by looking at what the platform is valuing for what price – it’s a bit like reverse engineering my instant income potential.”

Before buying the product, Elliot does research to ensure it can be sold for a profit. He uses platforms such as Facebook Marketplace to collect mobiles locally, before checking them over and then flogging them to Twig.

He continued: “The phones must be from reputable sources, and you have to know what you’re looking for, including damage and flaws to the phones themselves. But once you get into the habit, the money can start rolling in quickly.”

Britons can list and sell their unwanted goods on sites such as Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Gumtree and Depop. It should be noted that each site may have different policies about selling fees and charges.

Reselling can be a lucrative side hustle as another man was able to make $800 (£633.65) in a couple of hours thanks to his side hustle reselling used items.

Scott is a Tik Tok sensation with 32,000 followers. He shared a video on his page about how he managed to make hundreds of dollars by flipping an old Volkswagen.

He said: “All I did today was spray it down with the hose, wash it, take good pictures of it and market it correctly on OfferUp.”
