Instagram has been suffering intermittent outages today, leaving thousands of users unable to enjoy the platform.
Just after 9am the social media app appeared to suffer a major issue, with reports of the problem spiking at more than 2,000 on Down Detector.
While many are now back online, the issue appears to be continuing for some.
Most of the reports relate to the app, with just 5% linked to the website, but the majority of users access the platform through its app.
Others noted the issue was with the feed specifically, which was unable to refresh and pull in new content.
Users across the UK reported problems, including in London, Glasgow, Manchester and the Midlands.
However, the issue appears to be global, with users on X from the US, Canada, India and Pakistan also complaining they were unable to access the app.
Many also joked about the situation, and the fact so many users flocked to X to see if there was an issue with their accounts or if Instagram was down.
One user, Kay, asked: ‘Is Instagram down or have I been hacked?’
Others wondered if their account had been deleted.
Instagram is one of the world’s most popular apps, with around 2 billion reported active monthly users, and more than 500 million active daily users.
Neither Instagram nor its owner Meta appears to have replied to any of the posts or commented on the cause of the issue.
The outage comes just days after Instagram’s sister platform Facebook also went down.
