Infosys signs tennis legend Rafael Nadal as brand ambassador

Infosys has signed a three-year partnership with Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal and has co-developed an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to mark the collaboration.

The Bengaluru-based company and Nadal’s coaching team are developing an AI-powered match analysis tool. This personalised tool will be available in real time to Nadal’s coaching team to simultaneously track insights from his live matches, when he is back on tour, along with historical data from his earlier matches, according to a press release.

This comes as the Bengaluru-based firm has been the digital innovation partner for the ATP Tour, Roland-Garros, Australian Open, and International Tennis Hall of Fame. “Brand Infosys has helped reimagine the tennis ecosystem for a billion fans globally leveraging AI, cloud, data analytics and digital experiences,” the release said.

Infosys has launched over 30 innovations converging the power of AI, cloud, metaverse, mixed reality and other new-age tech for the tennis ecosystem. Other innovations, from Infosys, for the tennis ecosystem include explorations in the digital universe including mixed reality, social VR (virtual reality) and 3D art museums to expand the history and heritage of tennis to fans globally. Recently, Infosys launched the Carbon Tracker, allowing ATP players to track and offset emissions from their travel on tour. It is a first-ever sustainable tech in any sport.

This comes as ET reported earlier this week that The top five Indian IT players — Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Wipro and Tech Mahindra — drive between $800 million and $1 billion from the sports sector and related partnerships annually, according to research by IT market intelligence firm UnearthInsight. The global addressable market is pegged at around $21 billion, meaning India has cornered around five per cent of the global share.
