India, along with Brazil, Germany, and Japan, present a detailed proposal to reform the United Nations Security Council


India has presented a comprehensive model for Security Council reform on behalf of the G4 nations. It advocates for the inclusion of new permanent members democratically elected by the General Assembly and demonstrates flexibility on the contentious issue of the veto power.During the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council reform (IGN) held on Thursday, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, emphasized the significance of achieving tangible progress on this longstanding issue, particularly in light of the UN’s upcoming 80th anniversary.
