Penned by Alex Sarrigeorgiou, the narrative unfolds in a Maine setting, portraying the tale of Lucy, a bartender in a small town. Lucy consents to serve as a model for Ilse, a painter played by Ehle. Ilse, grappling with existential challenges, embarks on an artistic retreat, seeking solace from the complexities of her career and personal life.
“Through their relationship, both women must confront their preconceptions of what makes a good life,” the logline reads.
In the upcoming film, Sarrigeorgiou takes on the role of Lucy, and Francois Arnaud from “Yellowjackets” is cast as Lucy’s boyfriend, Tom, a local chef.
Production for the film is scheduled to begin this month, starting with principal photography in Damariscotta, Maine, before transitioning to New York City in February. Marin Hope is responsible for casting the project.
Emmy nominee Bethany, known for “Tell That to the Winter Sea,” takes on the roles of director and producer for BKE Productions in collaboration with C.C. Kellogg of Valmora Productions, Sarrigeorgiou representing Little Language Films, and Sarah Keyes. Kellogg serves as executive producer for Valmora alongside Carl Black.This collaboration reunites Bethany and Kellogg, who previously worked together on “Tell That to the Winter Sea.” The film, also produced by Sulk Youth Films, is slated for a U.K. theatrical release next year through Kaleidoscope.Jennefer Ehle, acclaimed for her iconic portrayal of Lizzy Bennet in the BBC’s “Pride and Prejudice” and notable roles in films such as “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” will be part of the cast. Francois Arnaud, recognized for his work in projects like “Yellowjackets,” “The Borgias,” and “Plan B,” as well as “Marlowe” opposite Liam Neeson, is also set to star.
Ehle is represented by UTA and Independent Talent Group, while Arnaud is represented by Independent Artists Group and Anonymous Content. Bethany is represented by Buchwald and Alt Global Media.
