At MoneyMagpie we understand that we don’t always have the time to have a second job, we don’t have the energy for that ever-elusive “side hustle” and a lot of us don’t have the knowledge to target the famous “passive income”.
However, if we really want to hustle like Del Boy and channel that famous yuppie ethos that “time is money”, we all know that we can try to get a few quid wherever we are.
So, where is the place that people spend most idle time? Well, the toilet! It has been estimated that, over the course of our lives, we spend one and a half years in our bathroom! And in that time, according to a recent study, it was also found that a whopping 61.6 percent of people take their smartphones to the toilet.
With that in mind here are our top five ways to make money from the toilet.
Disclaimer – we would like to add, that if – like this article implies – you do use your mobile phone on the toilet, then be aware that they carry germs. Please do follow good hygiene practices… also remember these lovely statistics the next time you ask to use your mate’s mobile.
Whilst some online surveys can take a while to pay, if you pick a legitimate service then the money will one day happen. They are also a very quick and easy way to make money on the toilet.
I like Inbox Pounds. It’s easy to sign up and simple to use wherever you are – including the bathroom. They also give you £1 just for signing up, so you’ll be making money even if it’s a very quick visit.
Whilst this is potentially more “toilet-themed” than an actual toilet activity, it’s possible to sell the cardboard insides of your toilet rolls on eBay.
There really are people who need them for craft projects and will buy them from you. Sell them for about £7 per 50. If you have a larger family (or even an office) you will probably get through a lot and will be able to gather 50 rather quickly.
Cashback sites are such an easy way to make money, but still, so few people join them. Basically, by joining a cashback site, you’ll get a bit of money back on everything you buy.
All you have to do is sign up (absolutely free) and shop through the cashback site’s portal. It’s exactly the same as online shopping any other way, but they’ll be able to track where you make your purchase so both they and you can get paid for it.
Three of our favourite cashback sites are JamDoughnut, HyperJar and Quidco, both of which are absolutely free to join. In fact, with Quidco you get a £10 cashback bonus when you make your first purchase!
You really are getting money just for shopping as normal – why wouldn’t you sign up?
Check Pick My Postcode! for an opportunity to win money every day. On some days they have over £2,000 to give away if it’s been a rollover.
All you need to do is sign up with your email address and postcode. Then you check the site each day to see if your postcode is the winning one. It’s that easy. Read MoneyMagpie’s article about it here.
They also have other ways to win such as an Emoji Lottery and a Video Lottery. So, if you happen to be someone who takes a little while on the toilet, then this may be worth a try.
