‘I’m a self-made millionaire at 23 but have no friends – I don't have time for them'

One young self-made millionaire is sharing how he made the decision to cut off his friendships to become rich. Luke Lintz, 23, is a multimillionaire who moved 3,000 miles away from his hometown and left his school friends behind to start his online business.

He runs HighKey, a PR agency, with his brothers Jordan and Jackson, and believes his friendships would have held him back from becoming successful.

With one million followers on Instagram, Mr. Lintz has been able to grow his business to the next level thanks to social media.

The entrepreneur explained: “Once my company, HighKey, took off I moved across the world and changed my number without a second thought.

“I was extremely popular in high school and after graduation, but the constant invites to celebrate friends’ birthdays, promotions and weddings were too much of a distraction from success.

“People have far too many friends. I believe in giving everything 100 percent and I am not available to be a good friend right now.

“There is not one part of me that is concerned about having no friends at this age. I haven’t had a day off in seven years. It is known that I am in a phase of total focus and growth and I wouldn’t show up.

“I can’t allow myself to feel guilt or waste time trying to maintain friendships at this time because it would be impossible to keep in touch in a way that makes people feel valued.”

According to the businessman, he uses his “social energy” to recruit new people for his family’s digital agency.

Since the business’ launch, Mr. Lintz has interviewed, hired and got to personally all 70 members of High Key’s staff.

Anytime he has left after work, he gives it to his brothers to discuss growing the enterprise further or to his girlfriend.

While the 23-year-old has acquaintances he plays basketball with, he stops short of spending any time with them outside of the court.

In the last seven years, the three brothers have been able to turn over eight figures with Luke aiming to become a billionaire by the time he is 40.

To document his journey, the young man has started his own series on YouTube and TikTok: “Road to a Billion”.

Mr Lintz added: “I’m so focused right now I don’t even know what hanging out with friends would look like. As if I’d be caught dead playing video games or wasting time in bars.

“These are easy sacrifices to make for my level of success. And it’s why millionaires and billionaires are rare. Most people don’t have what it takes to achieve laser-focus on their goal.”
