She revealed soaking the mats and wiping them down with a squeegee will have them looking car wash-fresh in no time.

Similar squeegees can be bought at B&M for as little as £2.50.

In a video, Mai said: “Car cleaning hack! If your kids smash anything and everything into the removable rugs in your car you need this.

“Remove said soiled rugs then power wash them clean. I like to spray them with a little dish soak as well then rinse clean again.”

It’s at this point that the squeegee comes into use.

Mai adds: “Rugs obviously hold on to a lot of water and it would take days to have the sun fully dry these.

“I get a shower squeegee and squeegee out the excess water. Then it only takes a few hours for the sun to dry it from there.”

It comes after drivers rushed to buy another £2 product to rid their cars of dirt, debris and crumbs in hard-to-reach spots.

Meanwhile, an expert mechanic explained a handy hack to stop your car overheating in warm weather.
