Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ajit Kr Thakur CEO IGGL said ‘The interconnection agreement will facilitate connection of the North East Gas Grid with the BGPL at three locations, viz Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, Baihata and Panikhaiti in Assam. The interconnection agreement will pave the way for making the North East Gas Grid a part of the National Gas Grid.” The pipeline for interconnection will be laid by GAIL and the cost of laying approximately Rs 15.16 Crore will be reimbursed by IGGL to GAIL”.
Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited is laying the 1656 km long North East Gas Grid at an estimated project cost of Rs 9265 Crore. As on date, the Project has achieved a physical progress of 75% with scheduled mechanical completion of phase I by March 2024.
The agreement was signed by Dr Ajit Kumar Thakur, CEO IGGL and R Choudhury, Zonal CGM GAIL in presence of Pradeep Kr Mohapatra CFO IGGL, Rajib Kr Bhattacharyya CHRCM IGGL, Pankaj Patowari CPM IGGL, Jayanta Narayan Das GM(Mktg) IGGL, M K Patnaik, GM (Marketing-NG) GAIL and other Officials of both the companies.
