‘Idiot’ driver slammed for ‘blocking the road’ and causing tailback – but are they doing the right thing?

A DRIVER has been slammed as an “idiot” for “blocking” a busy road and causing a long tailback – but are they doing the right thing?

Motorists stuck behind the minivan were so outraged that they came up with some rather extreme solutions.

A photo posted to Reddit showed a long traffic jam stretching back along a single-carriageway.

The route appeared to be wide enough for two cars to drive side-by-side.

This was especially true as almost all of the cars on it had pulled over to the left-hand side to queue.

However, the user who posted the image found the path up the outside blocked by a black van sitting in the centre of the lane.

They were left fuming as, they claimed, the traffic stretched on for up to a mile.

The incensed driver raved: “There are two lanes to ease congestion

“This brainless ape is straddling both lanes to stop anyone using the right lane.”

They even, jokingly, came up with some rather harsh measures to remedy the issue, adding: “Personally, I’d support the death penalty in this instance, but a few points on their licence and a fine would suffice.”

This prompted a stream of criticism directed at the van in the comments section.

One viewer wrote: “I’m not a big believer in overusing the horn, but in that situation it would be getting worn out.”

Another added: “This is arguably one of the worst things about driving in this country.”

However, some pointed out that the situation was less clear-cut than it might seem.

While the road was wide enough, at the point the photo was taken there were no clear signs or road markings suggesting it had been split into two lanes.

There are some merging arrows visible in the distance, but it’s not clear when the separation into two lanes begins.

However, most agreed that it was still inconsiderate of the van driver to block the road as it would be unlikely that anyone trying to overtake would be doing anything illegal.

It comes after cops released shocking footage of a drug driver weaving through traffic during a 100mph chase – before it all ended in disaster.
