I thought I was being scammed after I won £60,000 in lottery – here’s the first thing I did after scooping the prize

A MUM who thought she had been scammed after she won £60,000 in the lottery has revealed the first thing she did after scooping the prize.

Cassandra Steel, 47, from Prestwich near Manchester, was one of 15 neighbours on her street who shared a £1million Postcode Lottery jackpot.

Her boss had warned her that the news was a scam – so Cassandra rushed to tell him that it was real.

She told the Manchester Evening News: “I’ve got some champagne in the fridge that we’ve saved for a special occasion and what better occasion than this.

“I told my boss that I’d won the Postcode Lottery and he said, ‘It’s probably a scam’.

“I can’t wait to go back in tomorrow and tell him that it’s not – I’ve won!”

Cassandra surprised her husband and two young sons with the news when they got home – and the family are already planning how to spend the jackpot.

The mum-of-two said the family can now afford to finish off their house extension and take their first holiday in six years.

Widowed neighbour Myra Bowden, 60, scooped £117,646 after she forked out for two tickets.

She now plans to revamp her house and take a dream holiday to Thailand.

It comes after a man who won £100,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery said he’ll spend his winnings on a teeth op in Turkey to look like Rylan Clark.
