He said that a labourer working on a scaffold can expect to earn between £16 and £19 an hour.

A trainee scaffolder will see their earnings rise to around £20-£24 an hour.

But once they have completed their training, a scaffolder could earn over £30 an hour.

An eight-hour shift as a trained scaffolder could net you around £240.

Taking home that daily sum for 260 working days a year adds up to an annual salary of £62,400.

The Telegraph reports that scaffolding is among the highest-paying jobs which do not require a degree.

Average pay as an entry-level scaffolder is reportedly around £48,000 – more than many deskbound professions.

Other manual jobs with basic pay above £45,000 include door installers (£54,000) and tile fitters (£51,000).

Adzuna’s Andrew Hunter told the paper: “School leavers not choosing to go to university should take heart.

“The subjects chosen will likely have little impact on entry-level earnings.

“Instead it will be the skills you hone on the job that can bump you up the pay charts.”

It comes after a woman revealed how she turned her side hustle into a full-time job paying £120,000 a year.
