‘I actually gasped’ cry Ikea shoppers as they spot ‘absolutely sensational development’ on cafe menu

IKEA shoppers have been left in shock after spotting an “absolutely sensational development” on cafe menus.

The Swedish chain might be best-known for its meatballs, but customers have had their eyes on one item in particular over recent weeks.

The furniture and homeware retailer has unveiled a new double hot dog for foodies keen on switching up their order.

The tasty treat was introduced to menus earlier this month and there’s even a plant-based version.

Shoppers can pick up the dogs across all of Ikea’s UK branches, except its Order and Collection Points.

Remember you can find your nearest Ikea branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.

The double hot dog has 383 calories while the double plant dog comes in at 244 calories. Both are available for £1.40.

There’s no need to rush out either as the snacks have been added to menus on an ongoing basis.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have already started spotting the new dogs in stores, heading online to revel in the additions.

One said: “Absolutely sensational development at the Ikea bistro,” while another said: “What the what?? Can’t believe nobody told me.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “I actually gasped.”

And a fourth commented: “I do fancy (a) double hot dog now.”

Ikea isn’t the only retailer or chain to make changes to its menu in recent weeks and months.

McDonald’s added a number of new items to menus on January 4, to customer fanfare.

The fast food chain brought back the Steakhouse Stack, Cheesy Garlic Bites and Cadbury Dairy Milk and Caramel McFlurry’s.

Fan favourite the Fajita Chicken wrap was also reintroduced after first launching in January 2020.

Six menu items are being dropped from menus on February 6 though, just a month after they were added.

Meanwhile, supermarket chain Iceland exclusively revealed to The Sun it is launching two new deals ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Shoppers can get their hands on a two-for-£10 steak offer, saving £3 overall, from January 30 until February 30.

Plus, savvy customers can pick up two pizzas and ice cream for just £7 – a £5 saving.

In other news, Ikea has slashed prices on more than 1,500 items, with plans to cut prices on a further 1,000 by spring.
