There are 600 points up for grabs for every customer who recycles empty products in store.

The deal is on all throughout October at any of the chain’s 700 recycling drop-off points.

It comes as part of the Recycle at Boots scheme, which allows shoppers to recycle used makeup and toiletries in store to avoid them going to landfill.

The scheme accepts products which often can’t be recycled at home, including toothpaste tubes, travel minis samples, lotion pumps, mascaras and wet wipe packets.

Usually shoppers have to recycle a minimum of five items and spend £10 on a shop before they can get 500 points – the equivalent of £5.

But until October 31, Boots is offering 600 points, or £6 worth.

To get the points you have to register online via www.boots.scan2recycle.com and enter your Advantage Card number alongside other personal details.

You then have to take pictures of the products you want to recycle using a smartphone and upload them on to the website.

After 24 hours, you can take the empties into your nearest Boots branch that runs the service and scan the QR code on any deposit box.

You can find the list of stores that run the service on Boots’ website.

Once you’ve scanned the QR code you will be sent a barcode to redeem the points at a till when making a minimum £10 spend.

You can return as many empties as you want, though no more than five each day.

Normally, you would have to spend around £166 to earn 500 Advantage card points as the loyalty scheme offers three points for every £1 spent, so it’s well worth your time signing up.

How else can I save money at Boots?

Try checking out the clearance section first – both online and in-store – where you’ll find toothpaste and hand wash on the cheap.

Not all stores have a clearance section though so it’s worth calling your local to double-check.

Meanwhile, you can save some extra cash by shopping in-store or online on a Tuesday where you’ll be able to get up to 80% off.

Plus, Boots regularly runs offers on its electrical goods which are worth snapping up.

It can see you get up to 70% off Oral B toothbrushes, 50% on hair dryers and often Fit Bits at a discount.

On top of that, there are certain items you’ll want to keep an eye out for where you’ll get the best value for money, including perfume and hair care products.

Meanwhile, here’s how to get hundreds of pounds from recycling on the high street including Lush, H&M and John Lewis.
