How to do eKYC for PM Kisan scheme: Here are 3 ways



The PM-KISAN plan was introduced in February 2019 to help land-holding farmers around the country with their financial requirements. This initiative transfers Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments into the Aadhaar enabled bank accounts. Farmers’ bank accounts were seeded through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Note that eKYC is mandatory for PM Kisan registered farmers. It can be done by OTP Based eKYC is available on PM Kisan Portal or nearest CSC centres can be contacted for Biometric based eKYC.

Why eKYC?

To ensure the benefit of the PM Kisan scheme reaches to the intended beneficiaries in their Aadhaar seeded bank accounts without involvement of any middlemen.

Modes of the eKYC
There are following three modes of eKYC available to the farmers of the PMKISAN scheme:

(i) OTP Based e-KYC (available on PM-KISAN Portal and Mobile App)
(ii) Biometric based e-KYC (available at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Seva Kendra (SSKs))
(iii) Face authentication-based e-KYC (available on PM KISAN Mobile app which is used by millions of farmers).

How OTP based e-KYC can be done?

To execute, OTP based eKYC, the farmer is required to have Aadhaar linked active mobile number. For this follow the given steps:
i. Visit the PM-KISAN portal (https://pmkisan.gov.in/)
ii. Click on e-KYC (on the top right corner of the website)
iii. Enter your Aadhaar number and complete your eKYC after submitting your OTP.

How biometric based e-KYC can be done?

This technology has been made available to over 4 lakh Common Service Centres and other State Seva Kendras across the country in order to deliver services to farmers at their doorsteps/neighborhoods. Follow the below steps.

  • Visit your nearest CSC/SSK with your Aadhaar Card and Aadhaar linked mobile number
  • The CSC/SSK operator will assist the farmer in performing biometric authentication using Aadhaar-based verification.

Note: i. The nearest CSC can be located at https://locator.csccloud.in/
ii. The convenience fee is Rs. 15 for eKYC.

How to do e-KYC through face-authentication?

The farmer can also do the eKYC through their mobile at their own convenience. This is the most innovative and hassle-free way of doing eKYC. The steps are given below:
i. Download the PM-KISAN mobile app and Aadhaar Face RD app from the Google Play Store
ii. Open the app and login through your PM-KISAN registered mobile number
iii. Land on the beneficiary status page
iv. If eKYC status is “No”, click on the eKYC, then enter your Aadhaar number and give your consent to scan your face
v. After successfully scanning your face, eKYC is completed.
Note: i. The status of the eKYC done through any mode will be reflected in the beneficiary status after 24 hours.
ii. The farmers can also access their status from the KYS module on the PM-KISAN portal and Kisan-eMitra (PM-KISAN AI Chatbot).
