High-tech security system leaves Vande Bharat astray in Kerala … – Kerala Kaumudi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The high technology security system will pop into action even if there happens a minor error, such was the case with the surprising halt done by Vande Bharat in Kerala yesterday.

The train was meant to start at 5: 20 am from Thiruvananthapuram central but moved from the station only at 6: 28 am. A cobweb of security issues delayed the travel which also irked the passengers who had work-related commitments. The delay also affected the schedule of other trains on the route to Kasargod.

In all other trains, if there happens an error, the alert light will turn on and it will be the loco pilots who should work ways to clear the error. However in Vande Bharat trains, if the issue can’t be solved in a limited time period the vehicle will stop automatically. In this method, the automatic system will conduct a full security review again which will take anywhere to one hour time.

Another Vande Bharat train which was stopped due to security flubs in Kannur started again and reached Thiruvananthapuram after the loco pilots decided to switch to manual mode. The mode was shifted from automatic to manual and the train traveled 68 minutes late. If the automatic system is dropped, the trains won’t invite any security issues but the railway is apprehensive of employing just manual mode alone.
