AN iconic retailer has launched a closing down sale before it disappears from the high street.
The Original Factory Shop will be closing at least two stores in May.
The company will be shutting its shop in Bideford on May 19 and in Stourport at the end of May.
On its Facebook page, the Bideford store announced its closing down sale.
It said: “Check out the start of our Closing Down Sale items.
Personalised bath bombs and super hero drinks bottles, now half price.”
“Hurry whilst stocks last.”
Shoppers can grab items for up to 50% off.
The company sells homeware items, clothing, stationery and other home essentials.
If you’re after something at The Original Factory Shop then you’ll need to be quick, as once stock is gone it’ll be gone.
The store announced it was closing last week and shoppers were quick to share their disappointment online.
One said: “So sad , another nice shop shutting.”
While another wrote: “So sorry to hear this. Wishing all the staff affected the very best for the future.”
And another commented: “Good luck to all of you, sad to see you closing.”
What other closures are there?
It’s not just The Original Factory Shop which is closing down stores.
M&Co has shut all of its stores in the UK.
All of its 170 stores have disappeared from the high street forever.
Marks and Spencer is shutting up shop on 67 branches over the next five years.
However, at the same time, the retailer has plans to open 104 new “bigger and fresher” stores – and some could be in the same areas as those closing.
B&Q closed eight stores in March too.
It’s not just retailers closing stores – Wetherspoon and Stonegate, which owns Slug and Lettuce and Be At One, are closing a number of boozers and restaurants this year.
Plus, a host of high street banks and building societies are shutting dozens of branches this year – and some are closing this month.
