Launched in June 2007, the scheme has offered 21.19% returns in 10 years, 16.12% returns in five years, 36.19% in three years, and 44.53% in one year. During the same time period the benchmark (Nifty Midcap 150 – TRI) offered 20.36%, 16.33%, 35.05%, and 36.15% return respectively.
If someone invested a lumpsum of Rs 1,000 in the fund when it was launched, the investment would have become Rs 11,833. A monthly SIP made in the fund for a period of 10 years would have offered 18.21% returns. In the five year horizon, the scheme offered XIRR returns of around 23.33%. In the three-year horizon, the scheme has offered 26.21% SIP returns. An SIP investment would have offered 18.78% returns since inception.
Among 18 mid cap schemes that have completed 10 years, HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund ranked third among its peers and offered 21.19% returns. HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund ranked fifth among 20 mid cap schemes that have completed seven years, and offered 17.09% returns. The scheme ranked nine amongst 22 mid cap schemes that have completed five years and offered 16.12% returns.
The portfolio of the fund is diversified across 63 stocks, with top 10 stocks accounting for 34.75%. As on May 31, the fund has 93.3% allocation to equity, and 6.06% in others which include cash and cash equivalents. The scheme is primarily mid cap oriented with The Indian Hotels Company, Apollo Tyres, Sundram Fasteners. and Tata Communications as the top holdings.As per the scheme information document dated April 28, 2023, the scheme has 1,619,927 folios, the highest among all open ended equity schemes offered by the fund house.
