Halifax, Natwest, Lloyds Bank and BoS to close 36 more branches – is one of them yours?

Halifax, Lloyds, Natwest and the Bank of Scotland will close 36 more branches, it has been announced.

The branches being closed by the four banks span the length of the country, including branches in the Isle of Arran, in Scotland, to Penzance in Cornwall.

The closures are expected to take place next year.

NatWest, which is closing just one branch, said it has experienced a “dramatic change” in the way people bank with more and more customers heading online “because it’s faster and easier”.

Lloyds is set to close the most branches with 18 facilities shutting their doors, while Halifax will close 15 and the Bank of Scotland will close two.

A spokesman at Natwest previously said: “We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren’t right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no one is left behind.

“We take our responsibility seriously to support the people who face challenges in moving online, so we are investing to provide them with support and alternatives that work for them.”
