Google to remove inactive accounts from Friday, check here how to save it from deletion



All those who have created Google accounts and have not been using them for a very long time, then be prepared to lose them as they can be permanently deleted. Come December 1 and Google as a part of its inactive account policy will be getting rid of all the unused accounts.

The tech giant added that, in a phased approach. it will first delete those accounts that were created but were never used.

The firm however said that accounts that were created for them by their employer or educational institution will not be deleted,

An account can be kept active just by signing into it or sending an email.

Google has cited security reasons behind the decision adding that accounts not in use had a greater risk of being compromised. Moreover, If users have recently logged into their accounts, they should not be concerned because it indicates that the account is active and won’t be deleted.

Meanwhile, Google stated in a blog post in May that older accounts are more susceptible because they often use the same or out-of-date passwords and do not have two-factor authentication enabled.The tech giant has mentioned that when an account is used improperly, spam, malicious content, and identity theft are some of the things that can take place.To keep the account safe, one just needs to sign in and that would be enough to keep it active for a couple of years. Another suggestion by the tech giant to keep your account active is by reading or sending an email by using Google Drive or simply watching a YouTube video.

To receive notifications after you log in, it’s a good idea to have an easily accessible recovery email address associated with your account. You can use a recovery email address that you supply to reset your password if you misplace it.

Google said that emails warning of the upcoming deletion have been sent to both the affected accounts and their recovery email addresses.
