Give us a smile

‘Even if you cannot change all the people around you, you can change the people you choose to be around. Life is too short to waste your time on people who don’t respect, appreciate and value you. Spend your life with people who make you smile, laugh and feel loved.’

Roy T Bennett, The Light in the HeartYes, the essence of a happy and blessed existence lies in spending life with people who make us smile, laugh and feel loved. These days, we hardly come across an innocent and beatific smile that gladdens the heart, mind and soul. Ralph W Emerson aptly said, ‘A smile is a reminder that you’ve not yet lost your true and humane self.’ ‘Tabassum jab tak hai/ Ummeed hai ke duniya qaayam hai’ – So long as a smile does exist/ The hope of the survival of humanity also lives on.

A smile transforms life and gives us hope. It is the most potent medium for spreading and striking empathy at the universal level because a smile has a cascading or ripple effect. One smile triggers thousands of smiles. A smile acts as an antidote to all the pains, tears and sufferings in the world. It’s the most potent weapon to disarm even the toughest and hardest hearts. Smile is a blessing that Nature has bestowed only upon us. Animals aren’t endowed with it.

We’ve become rude, crude and cantankerous because we’ve forgotten to smile. It costs you nothing and, yet, gets you everything. A seraphic smile can change life. You must have noticed that all saintly people have an angelic smile. A smile is a barometer of inner purity. So, smile and spread the positive vibes.
