GitLab Partners With Tech Data to Bolster DevOps Security – Channel Insider

Major DevOps platform vendor GitLab has substantially boosted its channel ambitions across APAC, appointing Tech Data as a regional distributor. Under the agreement, Tech Data will bring GitLab’s DevSecOps platform to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, and Japan.

“Today, with the rise in the need for speedier software development and relatively simple upgrades to existing deployments, there is an increased focus on rapid IT service delivery through the adoption of lean and agile practices by businesses,” said Bennett Wong, Tech Data Asia Pacific and Japan’s vice president of advanced solutions for modern data center and analytics. “Through our partnership with GitLab, we believe we will be able to accelerate application modernization and offer a complete and secure portfolio of DevOps solutions.”

Wong and Tech Data expect APAC market growth of 26.3% over the 2021–2030 period.

Stepping Up MSP Performance Across APAC

GitLab has been expanding its channel play in the APAC region since 2020, when it launched a new global partner program and appointed Michelle Hodges as its VP of Global Channels.

According to Dirk de Vos, GitLab’s APAC director of channels and strategic alliances, this investment in Tech Data is designed to help the company drive expertise across the APAC region.

“We are eager to add to the GitLab Partner Program across Asia Pacific, and we look forward to the additional expertise that Tech Data can provide, being included in their center of excellence as well as support in the region,” he said.

GitLab has a Channel Service Partner Program as part of its partner programme. Within that, the company “recognizes the important role our partners play in delivering value and services to our joint customers.” There is a specific set of certifications and services around enablement, training, and incentives to MSPs delivering services to GitLab customers.

With security top of mind within DevOps environments, the company hopes that partners will take advantage of Tech Data as an additional resource in this field.
