WITH the weather finally warming up, you may want to flash more flesh – but is your skin summer-ready?
To look your best, you can soothe and smooth it with homemade treats and remedies.
Give these easy ideas a go for a beautiful summer glow.
SKIN SOFTENER: Mix soothing oats with moisturising honey to perk up dry summer skin.
Combine two tablespoons of finely ground oatmeal with a tablespoon of honey and another of warm water to form a thick paste.
Massage the mixture into your face and leave for four minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Try this scrub idea, from faithinnature.co.uk, once or twice a week.
SUMMER SOOTHER: Prone to sunburn? Firstly, protect your skin with SPF.
Next get yourself an aloe vera plant.
B&Q sells one for £6.50.
Not only will the plant provide a finishing touch to your home, but the gel inside this succulent plant has been used for centuries to treat sunburn.
Just break off a chunk and apply to the skin.
For another homemade remedy, use soothing chamomile tea.
Just dip a flannel into a cooled cup of the herbal drink and press it on to skin that’s feeling sore from the sun.
TAME TRESSES: Summer days can play havoc with your hair, especially if you usually use heat to style your locks.
Treat your scalp to a homemade hair mask using avocados.
The oil in them helps keep your hair strong and healthy, according to the Holland & Barrett website.
It recommends mashing the flesh of one avocado (for shorter hair) and massaging it into your scalp through to the ends.
Wrap in a towel and wash out after an hour.
TREAT FOR TOES: If you want to show off your tootsies in strappy sandals, you need to get them looking their best.
For cracked feet, use an inexpensive pumice stone to get rid of dry skin, then spend five minutes massaging in coconut oil, which has antibacterial and moisturising properties.
