Game-changing Vision Pro launches tomorrow but UK Apple fans face disappointment

The date fans have finally been waiting for is almost here… well kind of. After eight very long months of waiting, Apple will release its revolutionary Vision Pro headset tomorrow, February 2, and it’s like nothing they have launched before. This spatial computing VR-style headset straps to your face and offers an experience where the real and virtual worlds combine.

That means you can stand in your front room and see everything around you but then view apps, videos, emails and games overlayed over the real world.

There’s also the option to make things fully immersive so you can exit the real world and simply see a giant screen in front of your eyes, a bit like having your very own IMAX cinema in your front room.

Having put it to the test during its launch at the WWDC Developers Conference last year, Express.co.uk can confirm that it’s a pretty incredible device that’s like no other gadget goggles we’ve used before.

The whole thing feels remarkably intuitive with your eyes working like a mouse to highlight icons and double taps with your fingers clicking on links and apps without needing dedicated controllers.

Another unique feature is a screen on the front which shows an image of your eyes. This concept has been created to make those around you feel less excluded when you are wearing it.

There are also built-in speakers so you don’t have to wear headphones and Apple will even offer special lenses if you wear glasses.

It’s clearly a very exciting new device from the team in Cupertino but it’s not all good news especially if you live in the UK. Firstly, it starts from a mighty $3,499 which makes it a serious purchase. It’s also only available in the USA for now.

If you live on the other side of the pond you’ll be able to walk into any Apple Store and grab one from February 2.

Those in Britain are going to have to wait a little longer. Apple hasn’t yet confirmed when it arrive on these shores although it should be here before the end of the year.

In fact, one Apple expert, Mark Gurman, reckons Brits could be popping it their faces before the summer holidays…so watch this space.

“The era of spatial computing has arrived,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created. Its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine how we connect, create, and explore.”

Sadly, if you were hoping to rush to your local Apple store on February 2nd you’re going to be left disappointed.

Apple is currently only offering Vison Pro in the US with no word yet on a global launch.
