G20 Summit: Telecom companies deploy measures to ensure connectivity

India’s top telcos Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have deployed network enhancement measures to ensure connectivity in key areas of the national capital where the events of the G20 Summit will take place.

Efforts towards network enhancement include additional fibre layout, indoor cell installation, and overall network augmentation in areas expected to see higher density of usage during the event, industry executives said.

“Telcos recognise the potential for network congestion for an event of this scale and have taken steps to prevent any lag in connectivity especially at the two main venues-Pragati Maidan and the Dwarka Convention Centre,” an industry executive said.

For example, Jio has deployed additional fibre around Pragati Maidan, in addition to augmenting its network from the airport, along the connecting roadways, right up to the two venues. Airtel too has deployed additional capacity.
Voda-Idea has deployed network sites and enhanced in-building coverage by installing a significant number of in-building solutions.
