SHOPPERS will be keen to know if their local shops, pubs and restaurants are open on the coronation Bank Holiday Monday.
Some are shaking up their usual operating hours on May 8 while others will be open as normal.
The Bank Holiday is landing on May 8, in celebrations of the King’s coronation yesterday.
The big event took place in Westminster Abbey, London, nearly 70 years after Queen Elizabeth II was crowned.
Remember, in most cases, you can find out if your local boozer, store or restaurant is open by checking on company websites.
For example, Harvester, which runs over 150 pubs and restaurants in the UK, has its own store locator tool.
You just have to enter your postcode and it will bring up your nearest location and opening hours.
Meanwhile, supermarket chains like Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi all have branch locators too.
Here’s what you need to know about pub, restaurant and shop opening times this Bank Holiday.
Supermarkets
Asda
Asda has confirmed to The Sun its stores will open as normal on May 8, but will close earlier – at around 8pm.
Meanwhile, all of its Scotland branches will be open until 10pm as usual.
The retailer has over 630 stores across the UK.
Lidl
Most Lidl stores across England and Wales will open between 8am and 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
Branches in Scotland will be operating their normal Monday opening hours.
However, the discounter told The Sun store opening times may vary depending on where you head and customers should use its store locator to double-check.
Meanwhile, it is predicting that the quietest time to shop will be before 11am and after 4pm.
Aldi
Aldi will open its stores at the usual time on Monday, May 8, but they will close slightly earlier at 8pm.
All stores in Scotland will be open until 10pm as usual.
Again, it’s worth checking Aldi’s store locator for your local’s opening hours.
Sainsbury’s

The smaller Sainsbury’s Local branches will be open as normal from 7am to 11pm.

Pubs
Wetherspoons
Wetherspoon runs nearly 900 pubs across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, so you’ll be keen to know whether it’s opening its boozers tomorrow.
While the chain hasn’t confirmed this year whether its pubs will be open on this date, in previous years they have opened as normal with Monday operating hours.
Remember though, opening hours vary from pub to pub so you should always check ahead to see if your local will be open.
You can use its pub locator tool, or call on the phone.
Plus, Wetherspoon confirmed that all of its pubs will remain open an hour after their usual closing time tonight to allow boozers to celebrate – but the exact time they will shut will vary from venue to venue.
Greene King
Greene King has over 300 pubs in London and a whopping 2,600 in the UK in total.
Opening times vary depending on which pub you go to, but again you can check the pub locator tool on its website to find out what time your local is open on May 8.
We checked out a number of Greene King pubs across the UK and they appear to be operating normal opening hours on this date.
Mitchells and Butlers
Mitchells and Butlers own notable brands including Harvester and Toby Carvery.
But again, opening times across its pubs and restaurants on May 8 may vary depending on which location you head to.
Luckily, the chain has a locator tool which you can use to find your nearest pub or restaurant’s opening hours.
Shops
Ikea
The Swedish retailer has dozens of stores across England and Wales, which will be open tomorrow.
However, opening hours will vary from store to store so make sure you use its branch locator to find out opening times.
You just have to enter your postcode and it will draw up your closest store.
B&M
B&M is known for its discounted products, so you’ll be keen to know about its opening hours on May 8.

To avoid disappointment, just check B&M’s store locator before making the trip, or call your local branch.
Boots
Boots’ branch opening hours vary depending on where you go, so make sure you check ahead to avoid disappointment.
You can do this by using the chain’s locator tool on its website. Or, you can always pick up the phone and call.
Primark
Like Boots, Primark’s store opening hours vary depending on where you are headed.
But it said it will be sticking to its usual opening hours on May 8. So if your local normally closes at 5pm, it will close at the same time.
Go to primark.com and use its store locator tool – just enter your postcode to find your nearest branch’s opening hours.
Home Bargains
Home Bargains has revealed its opening hours for May 8 to The Sun.
Most stores normally open from 8am on weekdays and from 11am on weekends.
But opening hours may vary on May 8 depending on which store you go to.
A spokesperson for the retailer previously told The Sun they may vary due to local retail park or shopping precinct opening times.
It recommended customers use the Home Bargains website to check their nearest branches opening hours.
DIY stores
Homebase
One of the UK’s favourite DIY retailers has confirmed its opening hours for May 8.
Fans will be pleased to hear stores will remain open between 8am and 7pm.
As always, check ahead using its store locator just to be sure you’re not wasting a trip though.
B&Q
B&Q branches across the UK will open their doors between 7am and 8am tomorrow.
Most branches should close around 8pm. Make sure you check the retailer’s store locator to get accurate opening hours.
