FSU Panama City hosting summer camps for STEAM learning programs – The News Herald


PANAMA CITY — The Collegiate School at Florida State University Panama City will partner with the FSU PC STEM Institute to host the first summer institute for June and July.

According to a news release, camps will focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) topics, including crime scene investigation, digital design, robotics programming and more. The camps are for students who have completed grades 6 through 8.

Camp sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some sessions have already started or are over. Here’s a look at what’s coming up. For more information or to register, go to TCS.FSU.edu/summer-institute.

Coding with Python

$200. Students will learn the fundamentals of programming and build apps. In July, students will have the opportunity to showcase what they have learned. Fridays only, June 7-July 26.

Find your voice

$100. Students will develop public speaking skills while learning about U.S presidents and how they gave speeches. June 24-26.

Intro to coding

$150. Students will have the opportunity to program a robot to complete an obstacle course. July 8-11.

For the love of lit

$150. Students will explore literature themes and selections. July 8-11.

Photography 101

$75. Students will learn about photography editing skills while using Adobe photoshop. July 15-18.

Agree to disagree

$150. Students will develop debate skills while learning about public speaking. July 15-18.

Digital media and design

$75. Students will learn about digital design and create graphics. July 17-18.

Biomedical science

$150. Students will learn about biomedical research and how scientists explore structures and functions of DNA. July 22-25.

Coding with Roblox

$150. Students will learn about coding while building games with the Roblox platform. July 22-25.
